Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American singer and musician, is most well-known for her songs. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her first few years of her life moving between London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13 she performed her debut performance in New Delhi. When she moved to Encinitas CA in 1999 she received an honorary high school degree. While she's still young Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording record. She often joins her father during performances, something she's done for a number of years. The singer made Anourag her first solo album in 1998. The album was titled Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. As she's appeared on many of the biggest stages around across the globe, she's performance career has been extensive. Her career doesn't just comprise the world of music. Bapi the Love of My Live, a biography of a picture that was written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. Also, she appeared in the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising superstar and her fame is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar is a British native who lived her childhood in London, Delhi and California. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at the age of nine. After four years she performed her appearance on the sitar in Delhi at her father's 75th birthday party. Anoushka's father toured around the world with her and she also gained a variety of experience. While still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her artistry and musicianship as an outstanding musician from the Asian Arts.
